Good News of Good Works!

Find out how Missy's HEART has been helping animals since our Official Launch!

Just what has been going on with Missy's HEART since our official launch in July of 2024? What kind of work have we been doing?

Slingshot - Surrendered in July with broken leg and tail

So far, Missy's HEART has contributed approximately $2000 to the treatment and care of local strays and surrendered pets, with more set aside for continuing treatment.

Within a two-month span, over twenty-five animals have been taken in by Missy's HEART, with nine successfully adopted out to their forever homes, so far! Four dogs, over twenty cats, and one rabbit have directly benefitted from our Surrender/Adoption program. Around $800 of spay and neuter procedures have been performed on stray animals - helping keep local stray populations in check.

Babe - Surrendered in July with acute dental disease and hypothyroidism

Animals surrendered to the care of Missy's HEART suffered from a variety of medical issues. Emaciation, broken limbs, wounds, hypothyroidism, deformities, and neurological disorders are all being treated with donated funds. Several bottle-babies requiring additional time and resources have also been cared for during this time. The treatments we have been able to provide for these local animals have reduced the financial burden and space requirements on our local animal shelters.

Camel - Surrendered in August with a spinal deformity

Our first medical voucher was approved and awarded by the Board of Directors. This voucher paid the majority of the cost of care for a dog whose family lost everything in a fire. The voucher paid towards diagnostic imaging, bloodwork, treatment, and medication: approx. 80% of the overall bill, greatly reducing the burden of care on the owners who had already lost so much!

Missy's HEART is small, and we are just starting out. We appreciate the generosity of our surrounding community that makes these good works possible!
