Choose a Cause for Your Donation

  General Fund

A donation to the General Fund is a great way to support all the various goals of Missy's HEART at once.  Donations to the General Fund will be allocated as needed under the direction of our Board of Directors.  If you want to support a specific goal or tenet of Missy's HEART, you may choose to support one or more of the other options listed on this page.

Medical Care

Sometimes our pets experience medical emergencies beyond what can be reasonably expected or fall ill when we ourselves are experiencing financial hardship.  Donations to this cause will be allocated to providing financial aid for life-saving medical care for pets in our community with the goal of preventing economic euthanasia.  Pet owners who are in financial crisis will be able to apply for one-time assistance to get their pet life-saving treatment.  If you would rather support a different aspect of Missy's HEART, please select one of the other goals listed on this page.

Medical Fees
Pet Adoptions

Homeless pets often have little hope if they become injured or sick.  Animal shelters often do not have space to house these animals that will take extra time and resources to treat before they can be adopted - meaning they are more likely to be euthanized.  Donations to this cause will be allocated to providing second chances to sick, injured, or special needs homeless pets, including pets surrendered for medical reasons.  These animals will be treated and placed for adoption.  If you would rather support a different aspect of Missy's HEART, please select one of the other goals listed on this page.

Scholarships

Becoming a veterinary professional takes a lot of dedication and school.  Certification often takes years of expensive tuition and books, and can also require out-of-state housing costs (since there are no current vet schools in Kentucky).  To encourage our local youth to pursue this career path and help ensure the future of veterinary care in our community, donations to this cause will be allocated to pay for one-time scholarships for our local students.  If you would rather support a different aspect of Missy's HEART, please select one of the other goals listed on this page.

Public Education

Benjamin Franklin's famous quote "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" is very true when it comes to pet care.  A healthy home life with routine preventative care (vaccines, spay/neuter, teeth cleanings, monthly parasite preventative, etc.) greatly helps pet owners avoid future surprise vet bills.  Unfortunately, many pet owners are unfamiliar or misinformed about preventative care measures for their pets.  Donations to this goal will be allocated to producing informative articles and other media for local pet owners and hosting public educational seminars.  If you would rather support a different aspect of Missy's HEART, please select one of the other goals listed on this page.

Local Blood Bank

Donated blood is a life-saving tool - for both humans and pets.  Obtaining blood can be difficult in humans, but even more so for pets.  Donations to this goal will be allocated to funding pet blood drives and building a local pet blood bank.  Donated pet blood will be made available to local veterinary offices to aid in timely treatment of patients.  If you would rather support a different aspect of Missy's HEART, please select one of the other goals listed on this page.
